For the single ladies...

I wrote this a while back, but I think it's funny.  So I decided it needs to be on my blog!  Please take it with a grain of salt...I was being silly that day.  This is what happens when word nerds sit in drive-thru lines for long periods of time...

My intense frustration at my isolation
Is leading me to devastation. 
I need salvation in the form of adoration
From a man who won't be an irritation. 
I'd like to take a vacation in God's creation
With a man who will stop my desolation. 
I'll starve myself to emaciation to find a man in a high paying occupation
That will kiss me in the precipitation. 
The only problem with this approximation? 
It will surely lead to fornication!

That Weird Kid

Everyone went to school with at least one weird kid. In third grade, the one that stands out for me was the girl who told everyone she was the princess of Saturn. Sadly, her planet was going through an intergalactic war, and she was sent to Earth for her safety. She missed her planet so much, but she was able to stay in touch with her people through the communicator hidden in her Holly Hobby lunchbox. Nobody else could see it though. It only worked for her. She put her jacket over her head after her ham and cheese to enter the zone.  The rest of the class loved the stories about Saturnia, her capitol city.   They longed to go with her to visit so they could see the beautiful rings and witness multiple moons. Her stories of the rocky horizon views were breathtaking. The palace sounded like such a magical place, and the advanced technology they used in their spacecrafts was mind-boggling. A Fairy Tale Life...

People always seem to long for a "fairy tale" life...but I was thinking, is that really a good thing? Sure, MOST of them end well...but what did they have to endure to get to that point?  And even with the "happy" endings, was the final result all that great? Cinderella was an emotionally abused orphan. She had to deal with the untimely death of both her parents!  To make matters worse, she was stuck with a horrible stepmother and two nasty pieces of work for stepsisters.  They made her a seriously overworked servant and teased her mercilessly.  I know some kids who aren't crazy about their steps, but come on...most aren't THAT bad... Think about it...they would rather BREAK THE LAW then let her have one night of happiness!  These are not pleasant roommates, people!
